The ideal place to stay in Owhango.
The History of the post office at Owhango :
Building took place in 1919 and the official opening was in the year 1920 the building is now (2010) 90 years old, and still in good useful condition.
It was used as the post center of Owhango, with counter and postboxes mail service, telephone exchange and supply of the usual postal requirements.
Unfortunately the then govenrment of New Zealand decided to close our social center postal facility on the 31st March 1989,
and we now have what is called a Community Mail Box, to collect our mail.
In 2010 we even got a roof over the 100 boxes, to keep out the rain, which found its way into the boxes sometimes.

Jane and Chris Brownie have  converted the old postoffice into a lovely Home style accommodation unit with 5 bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and two lounges all on one level; the building is heated with heatpumps, but the fireplaces in some of the bedrooms and lounges are now no longer in use as they can not be lighted up because of safety issues, so they are simply decorative items enhancing the style you are staying in for the night .
Karen Rowe has taken over the Homestyle accomodation in September 2011, and lives on the premises permanently.
